We all miss those good old’ margarita nights with our friends or co-workers. The ones we have been downing at home just don’t taste the same. Innovative politicians believe that alcohol to go from our favorite restaurants may change the restaurant economy for the American economy. From Washinton D.C. to Chicago, you may be able to order your favorite local drink to go but will it really help our economy now or in the future?
Innovation was a booming industry in the 19th and early 20th Century in America. During that time more patents were approved that at any other time in America. Our economy then thrived on manufacturing in the Industrial Revolution. Sure, we had the robber barons but we will always have monopolistic companies since patents can work for their benefit as well. Drinks can be a truly creative process where skilled bartenders and the like blend their own ideas with some good liquor. That’s great but in an industry that thrives on employed Americans to overspend on eating out, it’s not the key to driving our slumping economy. Innovative goods and services can’t hold water when no one is working.
If we want to not only revive the 2020 and future economy we could look into the future of creative manufacturing. Sure, all manufacturing creates something but the majority of Intellectual Property which holds our ideas to a common core of industrialized patenting processes is failing our newest generation. Currently, we have the American Inventors Protection Act and the Digital Millenium Copyright Act that can help us protect and proceed in formulating and manufacturing our ideas. But in both of these laws, there are few federal legal services that can help us when our ideas are stolen or hindered.
Creative minds utilize hours of skilled research as writers, artists, and service providers. As the 21st Century remains a service economy the post Covid economy must have stronger laws to protect their innovation. There will be an increase in online teachers using their own worksheets, wedding planners designing online nuptials, and our work from home managers will design their own scheduling forms. These may not seem like important creations but they will be created by people to promote their individual standardized work systems. Our Millennials and Gen Zs will be the most technologically innovative generations formulating entire livelihoods online and through shareable content. They’ll need stricter protections to actually make a living from their functioning developments in their work worlds-whether as graphic designers or architects.
Currently, these creatives can issue “takedown” orders when their innovative ideas are illegally shared or even stolen. Then these creatives can use pro-active measures like Creative Commons which allows common copyright on a website where their work is presented. Those are the options for our starving artists besides expensive legal battles when they find their materials were stolen. Money is lost in any of these circumstances while these 21st Century innovators reduce their economic impact. A side effect is that we are creating new robber barons as large corporations use the lax innovation technology laws to steal materials from our startup online creativity artists to expand their own market share.
The post Covid economy will be built from more stay at home workers than ever before that will generate online revenue and businesses. Politicians need to look more into the future of free legal help for these innovators and SBA loans for their idea generation. They’ll need more protection from our federal government to increase their revenue that will eventually rev up our economy. The future of American manufacturing is in our heads.
